Congratulations to Joe Darden, recipient of 2019 American Association of Geographers (AAG) Lifetime Achievement Honors.
During his almost half-century long distinguished career, Professor Joe T. Darden, of Michigan State University (MSU) has produced seven books and about 160 journal articles and book chapter; his research interests focus on urban social geography, residential segregation, immigration and socioeconomic neighborhood inequality in multi-racial societies. His books include The State of Black Michigan, 1967-2007 and Detroit: Race Riots, Racial Conflicts, and Efforts to Bridge the Racial Divide, which received 2014 Michigan Notable Book Award, and 2014 Historical Society of Michigan State History Award.
