Licensing MSU Press Content

To request permission to reprint content published in MSU Press journals, please see the Journals page.

For general reprint use in both print and electronic works and for course packets, please contact the Copyright Clearance Center. Most content in MSU Press books and journals can be licensed through the CCC portal.

To request permission to reprint content published in MSU Press books, please check the copyright page at the front of the book from which you are looking to reprint to see if the press holds the rights to the content before contacting us. Works published in anthologies and illustrations may be separately copyrighted.

If you published a chapter in an MSU Press book and you wish to republish it elsewhere, you have the following nonexclusive rights: (1) to use the material in your own teaching activities; (2) to include the material in your personal or departmental database or noncommercial online site, or to include the material, twelve months after publication of the book, in a noncommercial data repository maintained by an institution with which you are officially affiliated; and (3) to publish it in your own single-authored work. For all such cases, please credit the original publication as follows: “Chapter title,” in [Book Title] (East Lansing: Michigan State University Press [Year]).”

For translation and other licensing options, please contact Natalie Eidenier.
