MSU Press Welcomes Editor Judith Lakamper

Judith Lakamper recently joined Michigan State University Press as a senior acquisitions editor. She will acquire in several areas for the press, including popular subjects such as African and African diaspora studies, Michigan history, and rhetoric.

She joins the press with more than six years of experience in scholarly publishing. Most recently, Lakamper served as acquisitions editor in cultural studies, gender and sexuality studies, and Jewish studies at Lexington Books, the scholarly imprint of Rowman & Littlefield (now Bloomsbury).

Lakamper holds master’s degrees in American literature and book history from Friedrich–Alexander University Erlangen–Nuremberg and a PhD in English from Wayne State University.

Lakamper expressed her enthusiasm for the new role. She said, “I am excited about acquiring knowledge in areas such as rhetoric and communication, African and African diaspora studies, and environmental studies. In my first year, I’m looking forward to working with the wonderful team at MSUP to build on its long tradition of publishing innovative, high-quality scholarship in these fields and exploring new possible directions for the press.”

Press Director Elizabeth Demers said Lakamper is a welcome addition to the press. “We are absolutely thrilled that Judith is joining our team. Her expertise in scholarly publishing is a great fit for our acquiring areas, and she will bring a great depth of knowledge and experience to our program.”
